The West Australian Music Teachers' Association regularly organises PD workshops, seminars and masterclasses aimed at both improving music pedagogy as well as running a successful studio.
Recordings can also be purchased on demand to watch back at your leisure. Not all workshops and masterclasses are recorded; whether we can make a workshop available afterwards depends on the presenter.
Provisional members of WAMTA are required to complete at least 4 hours of professional development per year. We recommend that our Teaching and Accredited Teaching members also undertake regular professional development.
Our workshops and recordings are available to anyone to attend / watch, whether they are a WAMTA member or not. However WAMTA members receive:
- Discounted attendance at all WAMTA workshops, masterclasses and seminars including the WA Piano Pedagogy Conference
- Discounts for online professional development modules and recordings
- Discounts for webinars and recordings offered by VMTA and QMTA

Play Based Piano: Practical Strategies for Developing technique in Young Students
Sunday, 30 August 2026, 2:00pm
Tunley Lecture Theatre, UWA, Crawley

This interactive workshop hosted by the fabulous Kym Corridan will focus on practical, play-based strategies for developing high-level piano technique in children in early childhood years (ages 3-8). Grounded in early childhood education theory and established music education methodologies, the workshop will equip educators with practical tools to develop not only high level technique in their students but also to foster engagement and positive musical experiences for students. Participants will explore interactive activities, inclusive of parent-partnership strategies, that support sustained motivation and age-appropriate skill development in early piano education.
