There are a wide variety of examination options available for Western Australian music students, particularly with video / livestream music exams here to stay.
As well as the more traditional classical syllabus options, a growing number of contemporary options are available, as well as band / group exams and exams specifically for adults. Many of these exam bodies offer certifications for music teachers as well.
- ABRSM
- Australian Guild of Music & Speech (AGMS) - based in QLD, but has a couple of local examiners in WA and online video options including live streamed exams and video recorded exams
- AGMS Facebook page
- AGMS WA Teachers Facebook group - to help coordinate students for local exams
- Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) - the WA office is situated at the UWA Claremont campus, and offers face to face and video recorded exams, including in WA regional centres
- ANZCA - offers Video Performance exams (upload their 4 pieces in one take for assessment), or ANZCA Go! allows students to upload their 4 pieces individually within a 12 month timeframe.
- Con Brio Examinations (CBE) - a purely online option, with no enrolment deadlines and repertoire submitted as individual videos
- Rockschool (RSL) - based in the UK, administered locally by the AMEB
- St Cecilia Examinations (SCSM) - based in Tasmania, has an examination centre in Perth and also offers a variety of remote / online and video recorded exam options
- Trinity College London (TCL) - Australian office is based in Sydney
- Universal Music Exams (UME) - in person or video recorded exams, where the parent / student picks the day & time
- Yamaha Grade Exams
