About Yoon Sen Lee
Yoon Sen Lee was born in Singapore and completed his early music education receiving the diplomas of LRSM, LGSM and ALCM. He then came to Australia in 1991, completing his piano performance Bachelor degree with honours and Masters of Music degree of M.Mus (perf) with distinction in performance from the University of Western Australia.
Yoon Sen won first prize at the Vose Concerto Competition at the University of Western Australia and performed with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. With a scholarship and grant from the University of Western Australia, he also had extensive studies in Holland for the performance on fortepiano.
Yoon Sen performs as solo pianist and fortepianist and in duo, and with chamber orchestras around Europe, Australia and Asia. He is also a choral conductor, composer and tenor. He has published many of his choral and vocal solo works in various recordings. His vocal compositions have won various international awards in the USA.
Yoon Sen is a renowned and highly regarded music educator, a senior music examiner and advisory board member for the Australian Music Examinations Board (WA) and regular adjudicator at international piano competitions. He teaches at the University of Western Australia, Edith Cowan University (WA Academy of Performing Arts) and is also professor of International Piano Academy in Imola, Italy. He has a music teaching career that spans over more than 40 years and has nurtured many music students who became winners at various local and prestigious international piano competitions.
